Colton & Katherine’s Backyard Maternity Session

Sometimes the best laid plans have to be tossed to the wind.  In photography, you sometimes have to go to Plan B in an instant!  This was the case for Colton and Katherine’s maternity session.  We had been talking about this session for months and were so excited about it.  The plans were to capture this precious milestone in peak Texas bluebonnet season in one of the many stunning bluebonnet fields here in Texas.  However, the timing was Spring 2020.  If you are reading this in the future, you know full well that this particular season was one for the history books.

Everything shut down due to the Coronavirus!  Every “non-essential” business was ordered to cease and people were required to stay at home in order to stop the spread of this fast spreading disease.  My job, obviously and rightfully so, was deemed “non-essential” so bluebonnets were tossed to the wind.  Plan B turned into a postponed maternity shoot in a backyard setting instead.

Oh what a beautiful Plan B it was!  Katherine’s gorgeous soft teal flowing maternity dress could not have been more perfect for the setting.  It was an early morning shoot, and Katherine and Colton brought their fun sweet spirited personalities with them and the shoot was flawless!  These two are so easy to photograph together.  They have known each other since Junior High and have been sweethearts ever since!  It was an honor for me to capture this beautiful couple for this milestone event in their lives and I am so excited to share some of my favorites.  What a story they will have to tell their precious baby girl once she is old enough to hear about the unbelievable world events going on all the while she was preparing for her grand entrance!
