Bailey & Cody’s Dreamy Utah Mountaintop Portraits / Dallas and Destination Portrait Photographer

What do you get when you combine a beautiful gown, an absolutely stunning couple, and an epic mountaintop setting? A dreamy destination portrait session, of course! I have to admit destination portraits are some of the most fun sessions for me as they almost always include an adventure of some sort in the most amazing locations ever. This particular session atop the Wasatch mountain range in Utah was most definitely an adventure and one of my favorite destination portrait sessions I have had the honor to capture!

We started our session on the top of the mountain. Getting there was quite the adventure. It required a 45 minute lift ride to the top. We caught some rays and enjoyed getting to know each other with plenty of time to chat on the way up. I knew they met in college at The University of Oklahoma….Boomer! What I didn’t realize was that they were both from different states. Bailey is from Oklahoma and Cody is from Tennessee. So how did they end up in Utah? I’ll get to that in a minute. In the meantime, enjoy a few of my favorites from the top of this stunning mountain!

Before we headed back down, I wanted to incorporate a bit of variety from the top. There was a small valley down below from where we were originally shooting and I loved how the soft greens of the ground flora contrasted against the backdrop of the darker, yet sunlit, variegated mountainside. I really wanted to capture Bailey and Cody in that setting but it required a hike down to get there. I didn’t want to ask them to do that, especially with Bailey in that huge dress. Well, Bailey could tell my wheels were spinning and was not about to miss out on more epic portraits. She not only was up for the adventure in that gown, but in her heels as well! Yikes!!! Thankfully, she is a professional dancer and is all muscle so I knew she was capable. But I only agreed since Cody would be right by her side to keep her steady on the way down.

This is one of my favorites from the entire session! I just love the gorgeous mountain range in the background and Cody & Bailey’s pose together! Perfection!
Another favorite! I just love how the wind caught Bailey’s hair perfectly during their sweet embrace!
Time to head back, I never miss an opportunity to capture more images even during transitions such as this. Love her sweet smile!

Next we found a gorgeous meadow that was calling our names! I just LOVED the outfits they wore as they just blended and complemented the scenery perfectly with this neutral but flattering color palette.

We wrapped this Utah destination portrait session by a tree lined path that was just magical! So you noticed I never answered the question, how did this gal from Oklahoma and this guy from Tennessee end up in Utah? If my memory serves they both wanted to start off their married journey somewhere different than their home states. I believe mountains and adventure opportunities were top of their criteria but most important, the location had to have a fabulous Professional Dance Company for Bailey to work and perform. Cody had flexibility with his job so Utah won out and that’s how they ended up in one of the prettiest locations ever!

I was honored to capture these portraits and am so glad they can take these epic images with them wherever they go next to remember their time in this Mountain Paradise for years to come!
